All the more reason to buy trip cancel/interruption insurance! It could happen to any airline at anytime. Then there is Murphy's Law to contend with..... Dan
Roy -- The strike is TENATIVE and may NOT happen. If it does, it is for 24 hours, only. The way that Irish Unions are regulated, they do NOT function the same as in the US. 'Wildcat', or Long-duration strikes are rare in modern Ireland. Unless you are actually flying on THAT day, it should be a 'Non-Issue'.
Saying that -- I HAVE run afoul of such an action before. We flew on Delta to Boston and then, Aer Lingus into Shannon, the day BEFORE a scheduled strike. WE arrived fine, BUT Delta botched the luggage 'Hand Off' in Boston. Because of the strike, our luggage stayed in Boston for 48 hours and THEN flew to Shannon. Aer Lingus delivered our bags to my wife's Cousin (per our instructions) -- on the THIRD day of our trip!
Coming from Florida (in April!), it taught us to NEVER pack our coats in the Checked Luggage!

The Stepsister got stranded in Heathrow en route to South Africa a few weeks ago when Lufthansa pilots threw in a "day of action".. One of these days Aer Lingus might follow through the sabre rattling but I think tensions are less now than last year.
