Help me with Aran Island questions

Well I'm down to just two days that still need to be planned. My initial idea for these days was to spend two nights in Galway to position myself for a day trip to the Aran Islands. The Galway planning isn't going well so I think maybe I should revise my plans to just stay on Inishmore for the two days instead of Galway with a day trip to the island.

     1. I understand I need to catch a ferry at Rossaveel. Is there a recommended company to do this? Just as important is where can I leave my car for a couple of days.

     2. Has anyone ever spent the night on the island and where do you recommend staying?

     3. I know this is a personal thing, but is the island enjoyable enough for a couple of nights? We want to relax and see a few sights without getting stressed out.

I'm open to any suggestions for the islands or elsewhere in the area for these two days. We will be coming from Cong the night before.

Jeff

There are several ferry companies and also a short plane ride Aer Arann to the island. See my Transport page and scroll down to Ferries Within Ireland.

You can leave your car in the car park at the ferry or airport. Put everything in the boot.

I don't have a personal recommendation on places to stay. However, Bit has stayed at Man of Aran Cottage and loves it. If staying for 2 nights you might prefer to be in the main town.

Two nights on the island to see the sites and relax would be fine...if the weather cooperates. Although you can probably see everything in a day. What will you do all day if rain is lashing down? Maybe one night in Galway and one on the island? confuse

We spent two nights on the island and had a great time. The weather was perfect. We stayed at Clai Ban and enjoyed it. Great host and location.

Glad you got such nice weather for the Aran Islands. That makes all the difference. Enjoy Kenmare.

I have stayed overnight on Inisheer at Tigh Ruairí and had a wonderful time. It's my favorite island and worth a consideration. It's smaller, but also less touristy.
