Quite a few places in Oughterard for Pike fishing on Lough Corrib. Galway.

Thank you, all! Oughterard looks interesting. Has anyone ever stayed at Camillaun Lodge? Or any other place there?

Is it close enough that I could easily go into Galway while he is fishing? Other things to see nearby??

I was wondering what a ghillie was! I saw that mentioned on several web pages...

Google maps says it is 27.9 Kilmometers (17.3 Miles) from Camillaun Lodge to the Car park next to the Jurys Inn on Quay Street, in Galway.

In Oughterard (try saying that fast three times!) biggrin I do like Railway Lodge. If you want to be walking distance to town Fough East is nice.

Carrick on Shannon, the county town of County Leitrim, is justifiably well known as a center for fishing and boating, lots of lakes, the locals say they measure the land by the litre, not the acre

I only know Kerry well, Lakelands Farm Guesthouse in Waterville is right beside a lake and the husband of the owner is a great fisherman(Rainbow Trout). I know alot of fisherman stay there. Another is beach cove B&B at St Finians bays, many fisherman stay here from the sea bass fishing (shore angling). Thirdly, blackstones B&B in Glencar is great place for fisherman(beside carragh river and near lake), breda is a friend of mine and lovely spot.
