We will be travelling to Ireland in May. We have10 days and are flying into and out of Dublin. We are doing a self drive and have already booked B&Bs mainly around the perimeter of the island. Can you help us with what we should bring? We are from the US. I heard Wifi may be sketchy. This is a once in a lifetime trip for us and we want to make the most of it, any help with anything would be appreciated!
Welcome to Michele's Forum! And -- Welcome to Ireland Fever!
WiFi is readily available at many hotels, businesses and B&Bs -- perhaps as much, or more so, than in the US. In the spaces BETWEEN towns, reception can be spotty (as in the US) due to terrain and other obstacles. In 2013 and 2014 I traveled North and South using a Mobile WiFi 'Hotspot' and only found a few areas where reception was unavailable.
Tell us more about your plans and we'll be glad to advise, suggest and recommend.
If you visit Michele's Main Page: http://www.irelandyes.com/ At the Bottom you will find LOTS of general info on Frequently Asked Questions like Lodging, Packing, Internet Access, etc.
You might also peruse some of the Trip Reports for ideas and info on sites to visit along the way.

If you could tell us where your prebooked accommodation has been selected then we might be better equipped to advise. Most Hotels and many B&B's have free wifi but yes it can be problematic in built up areas due to buildings and rural areas due to topography and the number of people accessing a single transmitter.
As to weather in May ask the end of April, If you come from a warm place bring more layers and a lightweight waterproof is always helpful.
