Bill & Green Dragon: Advice Published in Guidebook!

Hi Bill & Green Dragon,

Susan here on the forum has said that you two have been published in Fodors 2006 book on Ireland. Green Dragon is at the start of the Dublin section page 134 and Bill is on page 211. Congrats! Did you get paid? Didn't think so!!

Michele

RE: Bill & Green Dragon: Advice Published in Guidebook!

I just heard that today also from Susan. I was surprised, more so at the fact that my quote was about something I know very little about - the Rock of Cashel and that it covered an experience I had in 2002. The statement was an overall generalization about the area. There is so much that I know so much more about. Oh well. The pay was the honor of being published ... or at least that's what they would like me to think. I didn't even get a free book.

I had no idea!  Any one got a copy I can get a quote from?  (I'm a-giggle!)

I was just thinking last week of setting up my own website for travel advice for the UK (Michelle inspired me).  I won't write a travel book, but might have some insider tips.  The more information out there the better!  I'd of course have a links page to here, and other places I've used for great advice.

Hi Green Dragon
Your quote is in the Dublin Environs section.
"As I am fascinated by all history, but Celtic history in particular, the Hill of Tara was a must. I arrived early, around 9:30 AM. There was no one around, so I walked up to the hill and earthworks. I could see what looked like the whole of Ireland spread out before me, like a giant bowl of patchwork green farms. Warning: here is where I go hippie and mystical! I could feel the power of the land coursing through me, like I was a conduit for the lightning of the island traveling into the sky. It was incredible! I went back later with the offical tour group, around 11 AM, and it just wasn't the same. It was definitely a magical place."-GreenDragon

Cool!  That was from my trip report -- I just went out and bought a copy :)  Thanks for the heads up!

I don't know how many of these are here, but I see quotes from 39steps, Danna, AnnaG, DavidD, abuster, SiobhanP, Tennischick, SAM, irisheyes, wojazz3, and WiseOwl.

Congratualtions to everyone that got published!

Green Dragon,

You might want to set up a free website first till you see how it goes. There are plenty of them available, although most will have ads associated with them. If after a while if you decide you want to pay for web hosting, drop me an email for suggestions. The company hosting my site (very low rates) is currently offering a special. I just got an email from them today. Will you be your own webmaster?

Great quote, by the way!

Michele

Michelle:

Thank you for the compliment and the sweet offer!  However, I've already got a paid site for my art business (www.greendragonartist.com) and will piggyback on that for now.  That's all I'm looking for, a free site to help folks.  I certainly don't want to step on your toes!

I'll be my own webmaster as well -- after some initial help with my above website, I've done all the additions, deletions, and creations of my personal website and the ones for my Viking group since.  I'm learning Dreamweaver pretty well now, though I'm not up to anything fancy

Green Dragon,

Nice website and lovely artwork and jewelry. You certainly are multi-talented. I wish you success with the new portion of your website. Do let us know when it is up and operating so we can take a look.

Thank you!

I will let everyone know here when it's up.  I think I will focus on photos, since I sell them, and that's a bit of a different focus from your site.  I will have history information, tidbits, trivia, etc... as well as travel advice.  I've already gotten the main page created, but have LOTS to go.

I've also decided that, since I never wrote up a trip report for my first trip overseas (Ireland and England) I need to do that (1996!).  Luckily, I have 6 hours of video to remind me of things!
