Arriving in Dublin on Easter Sunday, what is available to do?

I will be arriving in Dublin on Easter Sunday (early morning), a day before I meet my tour group.  Do you know if any of the tourist attractions, shopping, or restaurants will be open?  From what I had read on the web, it sounds like most everything is closed on Good Friday & Monday was the National Holiday, but can't find much information on Easter Sunday .

I will also be staying at the Burlington Hotel and I would mind attending an Easter Mass near by there. Would you have any suggestions of Catholic Churches in that area, where I can find mass times, and do they have any dress codes for church there?  Just asking because in the States people seem to dress down (most now wearing jeans) and I was planning on taking casual clothes for my trip to Ireland, wasn't planning on packing any dresses and I don't want to offend anyone if I wear a pair of Dockers . Thank you for any help I can get.

Can't speak to what would be available on Easter Sunday, but my first thought would be to check the hop-on-hop-off bus schedules to see if they are running. Perhaps they would know what would be open.

We were in Ireland on Easter Sunday in '93 and wore dresses, heels and panty hose, only to find that everyone else at 9:00 Mass in Rosses Point was dressed very much like we would have on an ordinary Sunday at home. Sure could tell that we were tourists! I don't know about Dublin churches, but I'll bet you'd be fine in the Dockers.

And don't be silly like we were and take your own Cadbury eggs! Little did we know that Cadbury is like the Irish National Chocolate. At Easter time there'll be even more of it around.

This Easter is the 90th anniversary of the 1916 Easter Rising and they are planning special activities, but I don't know what they are.  I'll see if I can find a link for you.

readytogo,

Most things should be open on Easter Sunday. However, on Sundays things tend to open in the afternoon rather than morning. Dude's idea of emailing the hopper bus is a good one as they will be able to tell you exactly what is open. This is the email: info@dublinbus.ie or daytours@dublinbus.ie Restaurants will be open but shopping will be limited.

This is a website for Catholic churches: http://www.catholicireland.net/pages/index.php

This page has info on services: http://www.catholicireland.net/parishes/index.php

I hope you have a fun time in Ireland!
