Since I was someone who thought this review page would be a good idea I'll start the ball rolling by reviewing my favorite B&B in Ireland - actually the best place I have ever stayed in all of my travels.
St Kyran's is located in Virginia, County Cavan - about a 60-90 minute drive from Dublin's airport. It sits on Lough Ramor and is incredibly beautiful and peaceful Four of us stayed there in October, 2012. We arrived a few hours after landing in Dublin and were treated royally from the first minute. Luxurious rooms - with every amenity you could hope for - were ready when we arrived at 11 am. That was totally unexpected but so appreciated. We were invited for tea and the most delicious scones before retiring to our incredible rooms for an afternoon nap. When we awoke we walked down the hall for a 5 plus star dinner at their restaurant. The food was amazing and beautifully served. And Patrick's after dinner drinks are quite a treat. What a way to start our trip! When we left the next afternoon we were all looking forward to our return two night visit the following week. And we were not disappointed. It was a glorious way to wrap up our visit to Ireland.
Patrick and Helena are amazing hosts. - they truly make you feel like you are a lifelong friend. Everyone there treats you that way. That trip I was travelling with my 89 year old mom, and Patrick and Helena treated her like a Queen. Actually I think she was quite smitten with Patrick and he played into it. It was quite charming and sweet to watch. I've always said the best thing about Ireland is the people and Patrick and Helena proved that to me again. They took care of us as as guests while treating us like family.
We are returning to Ireland this fall and will be staying at St Kyran's for five nights this trip - three in the beginning and two at the end. It will be like visiting old friends - who live in a very nice home! I can hardly wait!
Pic, Thanks for getting this section started. Because of your recommendation I stayed there a couple of years ago. I totally agree with you about St. Kyrans. It is a fabulous place to stay. Here is the link: http://www.stkyrans.com/ I highly recommend dinner there too.
