Irish Holidays & Sporting Events

Hello All!

I understand there is a holiday in early August and was wondering what holiday it was and when. As this is our first trip to Ireland we are very interested in the "off the beaten path" or not-so-touristy kinds of things. Will this holiday be a problem (i.e. - things closed)? Also, does anyone know when some of the more popular sporting events take place during our visit (Aug 3 - 14)? Thanks in advance for your replies!!

Sean

Shawn,

The August Bank Holiday is on August 7. That means it is a long holiday weekend. You will need reservations for Aug 4, 5 & 6. Things that will be closed are offices, banks, schools, some shops, etc. All sightseeing will be open.

Have fun browsing all the things to see and do!
