We are headed back in April. How does $717.00 sound round trip? This is with Aer Lingus with one short stop on the way over to Shannon from DC. We paid $900.00 in 2015.
I will be asking for help shortly, as we will have children along this time. :)
Glad to hear that you are heading back to Ireland again!
I haven't ever purchased Travel Insurance (so far) as my Health Insurance covers me while overseas and only my airline tickets are non-refundable (BUT -- in a worst case situation, they ARE changeable for a fee around $200-$250 each). That being the case, I'm seldom 'on the hook' for more than $500 in a 'worst-case' scenario-- and I've been willing to gamble for that amount.
As my wife and I are getting older, though, I HAVE been thinking about it a bit more. As far as Ireland Trips go, we MAY start adding that cost in, in the next few years.
We're in the process of planning a relatively pricey, family Disney cruise for late-November, 2018, for 5 adults and 4 children that we will DEFINITELY be buying Trip Insurance for -- due to the number of people involved, expense and, particularly because it is so far out, time-wise.

Airfare varies SO much depending upon WHERE you fly To and From and the time of year that I think you just need to go with what YOUR experience tells you. Flying from Florida, over the years, I've paid anywhere between $600 and $1200 per ticket -- but there have been LOADS of extenuating circumstances and peripheral expenses that justified (somewhat) those choices.

Thanks Bob! I paid $900 each in September 2015. So these are actually cheaper, although Aer Lingus has some new choices system that I do not like and that charges for every little thing. They are multi-city tickets. I need to fly into Shannon and out of Dublin. Anyway, we are booked!
