Blackberry/ Sidekick Use in Ireland

As long as I've posted a technical question about computers and IPODS, I should also ask if anyone has successfully used their Blackberry or Sidekick while in Ireland. My daughter has a Sidekick and has used it without too many problems all over the US for wireless internet connections. Anyone tried either of these little gadgets in Ireland?

I believe these devices are tied to your cell phone usage? In that case you will have to contact your provider to see if they will work in Ireland. Since many US cell phones don't work in Ireland that may be the case with these things too.
