I am looking to get married in ireland - (do not mind where) and am trying to find a castle which I can get married in / hold my reception. nost of the castles I have seen have a minimum of 100+ people where as my wedding party will be about 90. I would like something special but do not have the budget for Slane / Waterford. It seems Ashford, Dromoland etc have minimum number or require at least 20+ rooms to be booked for two days. My budget is approx £4,000 pounds so not too low. can you help me find my dream place?
Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! How romantic that you are thinking of getting married in a castle in Ireland. Have you looked at the legal requirements yet? http://www.groireland.ie/getting_married.htm
I suggest you go to my "Castle Hotels" page. Just click on IrelandYes Index and then "Castle Hotels". I have listings and click through links to all of them. Maybe a smaller castle is what you need. You might even consider renting a castle. For that look under Castles for Rent.
Me and my fiancee would love the have our wedding in Markree Castle (Sligo), does anyone has experience with this castle?
If we choose for this castle we will probably fly in on Dublin (as we are from Holland) what will be the handiest way to get into Sligo, by Car or National flight?
I haven't stayed there and it gets mixed reviews. You might want to take a look at tripadvisor.com to read more reviews. Flying to Sligo would be much quicker if the flights coincide with your schedule. Otherwise you will want to rent a car and drive.
Thanks, never heard of TripAdvisor before but it is a great site
I am not sure about hiring a car.. I am not used to driving on the left site of the road , same for my family, will than consider to book a flight to Sligo
