Blennerville

I received the following in an e-mail from my sister in Colorado who is going on the Ireland trip with me next year. Can anyone shed any light on this? Perhaps he means Ballyseede Castle? BTW, I'm pretty sure Tralee, and Blennerville, are in Co. Kerry.

We had "Blen" come over to the house last week to discuss cleaning our carpets. I thought he was Scandanavian, but is Irish. He said there is a Blennerville Castle. So I did a brief search, found that Blennerville is near Tralee, County of Cork. Found some cottages there, but no castle.

Dude,

I don't know of a Blennerville Castle. There is the Blennerville Windmill and steam train. Blennerville is just outside Tralee on the road to Castlegregory. Of course, if he is from the area there might just be a pile of rocks somewhere known locally as the castle!

Thanks, Michele, just what I thought. I'll send your reply to my sister and she can quiz "Blen" about it. It may just be that since he is so far from home he thought no one would question his wisdom! I know I could tell people all sorts of tales about Ireland and they would believe them, based on my vast knowledge gleaned from three 10-day trips! Of course, it would be hard to exaggerate the beauty, the history, and the friendliness of the people.
