Hello! We are staying in Kenmare for 2 nights in September and wanted to know if anyone had B&B recommendations? (We are limited to those B&B's that accept vouchers)
We were looking at Tara Farm or Rockcrest House - has anyone stayed there? Other recommendations or ideas?
We were also thinking about going in Sept 06- I would like to know if you had booked w/a travel agent, since you have vouchers. What are your other plans - are you arriving at Shannon? Since we want to go to Kenmare also I would love to hear the feedback from people regarding B&B's.
Michele recommends The Lodge, and I have seen glowing recommendations on this site for Virginia's Guest House. We are probably going to spend 2 nights in Kenmare when we go, and this might be a tough call to make.
Some forum members have highly recommended Seanua. I understand that the B&B is currently for sale but those who have stayed there liked it. I have not had the opportunity to look at it since there was no one at home when I stopped by.
Also try The Caha's. It was okay when I was there three years ago.
Since you are using vouchers it restricts where you can stay.
Thank you for your responses! We would have liked to have stayed at one of the B&B's Michele recommended, but none of them accept vouchers, nor do any of those anyone else has mentioned. We have made arrangements to stay at Rockcrest House for 2 nights - we have read both positive and negative reviews, so we thought we would just see for ourselves and expect that it will be just fine for us.
We did make arrangements for our September '06 trip through a travel agent, although we probably wouldn't for any subsequent trips - we just thought it was a good way to go for our first visit to Ireland, and we did know in advance that it would restrict where we could stay. We are arriving in Dublin and traveling through the southwest and departing from Shannon - nothing against Dublin, but we didn't really want to spend a lot of time there, but we did want to see it! We are spending the majority of our trip in the south/southwest.
Michele - We were looking forward to staying at The Shore's in Castlegregory, but in the 1/2 day that it took us to confirm our reservation after our initial availability inquiry, the owner had booked the room...we were disappointed but perhaps during our next trip it will work out better...
Sorry to hear that someone beat you to the reservation at The Shores. It is truly an excellent place to stay. Try Dunlavin House in Dingle. I stopped by for a visit two years ago and it seemed very nice. They take vouchers.
Thanks Michele! This forum and your book have really been a great resource in helping us plan this trip! In several of the other towns we will be staying in, we have been able to use your recommendations and we are really looking forward to seeing everything in person!
