croke park, dublin

Help -

we have tickets to a billy joel concert at the end of this month in Dublin and i am having a heck of a time finding reasonably priced lodging for the 1 night...

i have found 23 listings in dublin city from the townandcountry.ie website that are available, but i don't know the neighborhoods well enough or have a map that shows me anything worth a darn...

does anyone know what the area around Croke Park would be called? they are listed as artane, ballsbridge, clontarf, donneybrook, drumcondra, fairview, killester, palmerstown, phibsboro, raheny, ranelagh, rathfarnham, rathmines, templeogue and terenure...

i know we want to be north of the liffey at the very least, and that the jury's inn croke park is booked solid. no room there at all.

as always, many thanks!!!

Kathy,

Congrats on snagging those tickets. Croke Park is in the Dublin 3 Drumcondra area. Here is a map: http://www.irishtourist.com/details/croke_park.shtml If you scroll down there is a map with a wider view and neighborhoods listed. This website also has good maps of Dublin: http://www.visitdublin.com/travel/maps/mapsofdublin.aspx?id=290 For future reference you might like these interactive maps of Dublin neighborhoods: http://dublin.forumforus.com/maps

When such events are on in Dublin there are usually special buses to take people from all over Dublin to the event. There are a lot of hotels on Drumcondra Road (this road leads to the airport) so they may be what you are looking for.

Happy hunting for lodgings!

Michele
