Thanks so much for all your advice -- from you and the other travelers. I think that I have revised our itinerary enough to work so that we have enough time to enjoy our vacation without overextending ourselves. As suggested, I am trying to spend 2 -3 nights in places, rather than just one. As such, I've eliminated Kinsale from our vacation. So, thus far, it appears that our schedule will be as follows:
September 4 & 5 - Dublin
September 6 -- Rock of Cashel/Cahir Castle --end in Kenmare (I know this is going to be a very full day!)
September 7 & 8 -- Kenmare
September 8/9/10 --Dingle
Now, this is where I could use some assistance. From Dingle, we are planning to drive to the Cliffs of Moher and, then, I want to spend time in Conemarra and Galway. Would it be best to spend 2 nights in Clifden and one in Galway? Or, should I break up the trip a bit? Our final night -- the 14th -- will be spent in Bunratty, so I have 3 nights that need to be planned.
Your itinerary is shaping up. Had you thought of doing the Cliffs of Moher on your last day when driving down to Bunratty? Then you could drive the main roads from Dingle to Galway for a shorter trip on that day.
You could spend the time in Galway as a base and see Connemara as a day trip. I don't know if you want the city experience or prefer the countryside. If the country, then go for either Clifden or Roundstone. If you prefer the city stay in Galway.
If you take my advice and do the cliffs on your last day, you could drive from Dingle to Clifden and skip Galway City. In that case I would suggest you add your extra night to staying overnight near Cashel. That day driving from Dublin to Kenmare and seeing Cashel & Cahir is a killer.
