Cliffs of Moher Construction Update

Anyone who has been to the Cliffs of Moher over the last year or so knows about the major construction project going on there. Thought I'd pass along some details Liam and I picked up from Katherine Webster, Director of the Cliffs of Moher New Visitor Experience.

The construction should be complete by the end of the year and the new visitor centre and the new paths along the Cliffs should be open in February 2007.

In the meantime, views of the Cliffs are still 100% accessible...you just have to get beyond the construction project.

Our interview with Katherine is in our most recent podcast/episode guide at www.irishfireside.com (Episode #8). Katherine shares details on new parking costs at the Cliffs and admission prices for the new centre (admission is not required to view the Cliffs), and she tells about a variety of things to do in County Clare and the region's legends.

She's promised to keep us abreast if anything changes to the plan...if we hear anything, we'll be sure to let you know via our Irish Fireside eNewsletter. You can take a peek at the proposed plan for the Cliffs of Moher New Visitor Experience at www.cliffsofmoher.ie

Corey,

Thanks so much for the comprehensive update on the cliffs. It was pretty messy the last time I was there but they are moving right along with the plans for completion. It will be a relief for everyone when the construction is over.

I have some catching up to do at IrishFireside. I always enjoy listening to the podcasts when I find the time. I have been spending too much time reformatting my data to my new hard drive. And I thought computers were supposed to be time-saving devices!

I hear you on the computer headaches. Even with all the anti-virus, anti-spam, anti-spyware, anti-aircraft software I've got installed on my machine, I've been hit with the never-ending stream of pop-ups...which became especially trying as I was redesigning our website.

I saw GreenDragon's photo of the construction at the Cliffs, and the site wasn't looking very pretty. Alas, things have to get worse before they get better. When it's all done, it sounds like it'll be a pretty nice experience. I'm most interested in the ranger program they are initiating (Katherine talks about that in the podcast). Having been to the Cliffs several times, I think I'll appreciate the extra information they provide.

I should note that even with the construction going on, it's still worth a stop to see the spectacular Cliffs of Moher. However, if you know you'll be going back to the area, I'd suggest saving them for your next visit.
