Has anyone used this pass? Is it worth the money. I will be in Dublin for 3 days and plan to see the typical popular sights in Dublin. It's just that often I find these passes cost more than the actual places do. Just wondering if anyone's had any experience with them.
Unless you are looking at a different Heritage Pass than I am, it does not seem to cover the Guiness Storehouse, St. Patrick's Church, Christ Church, the Jameson's distillery etc.
Before you purchase the Dublin card, check in to the open-top bus tours, http://www.irishcitytours.com/hop_citydublin.htm, as they offer, with your ticket stub, discounts into Dublin’s top attractions. If there is more than just yourself traveling, the two for one discount booklets are also a good way to save money, http://www.irelandexpert.com/money_savers_ireland_at_a_glimpse.htm.
That being said, I have not spent enough time in Dublin to benefit from the Dublin pass. However, I do recall looking at it and thinking it was a bit on the expensive side. You should look at each place you want to visit, total up the entrance fees and then determine if it will save you any money in the long run.
I have not used it but the price does seem steep. I second the suggestion to add up the admission prices of everything you want to see and then see if the Dublin Pass will actually save you money. Ireland at a Glimpse that Cowboy recommended is good. I also have a discount coupon pack on my site: http://www.irelandyes.com/discounts.html They are all a bit different so check them out thoroughly before ordering to see if any of them will actually be a money saver.
I think that is doable in three days. Group them together by location and do the most important ones first. I also recommend the hop-on hop-off bus for a good orientation tour. If you are in to Irish history don't miss Kilmainham Gaol.
