What a wonderful place to be able to spend a part of the Christmas Holidays! The hotel is hard to beat for the spectacular views in a quiet location away from the hurry & scurry of Killarney Town. I stayed there two nights about two years ago. I felt quite the princess and that says a lot for me! The staff is attentive without being smothering. It is the mark of an excellent hotel that one feels well cared for without feeling hovered over. Make sur eyou treat yourself to a massage while you are there, pure bliss!
I was not as fortunate as Cowboy to be able to stay. However, I did have a tour and it is first-class. Try to get a room overlooking the lakes. I think the view from Aghadoe is even better than the one from Ladies' View. They recently built a spa and leisure center and I'm sure you will enjoy the pampering. It is a couple of miles from town so you will need a car. Be sure to take a walk through the ruins up at Aghadoe if the weather permits. And let us know how you liked it.
I would have replied earlier, but for some reason, I am not receiving the email notifications of postings. Michelle, do you think activeboard might be filtering me as spam or something because of the .ie url in my email?
We have confirmed a lakeview room, this hotel was recommended and booked for us thru one of the accomodation/tour links this forum provides.
i will be sure to come back and provide some feedback to you all.
Happy holidays!
(side note: does anyone know why the irish say 'happy christmas' instead of 'merry christmas'?)
Nollaigh Shona Duit (null-ig hoe-na gwit) or Nollaigh Maith Duit (null-ig mah gwit) are the way I was taught growing up. If you are addressing a group, formally, you would substitute duibh, with the last consonant pronounced like a "v."
I am glad that you were able to book in at the Aghadoe. You will have a splendid time!
