Hiking

Does anyone have suggestions for hiking in the west? This would just be day trips, no 100 mile excursions. We're (mom, dad, 2 teenagers) going for 12 days at the end of June, beginning of July. I'm thinking the Cliffs of Moher area, but after seeing those sheer cliffs, the overprotective mom in me went Aaaahhhhhhhh! my 'babies' will fall off! (Normally I think of them as very capable, very wise kids...apparently just not around cliffs) They've seen the pictures and want to see the Cliffs. Is there a 'starting' point that we could walk/hike up to the cliffs? Are there other areas that are a good hike?
Thanks for the help.

Jerilyn,

There is plenty of hiking all over Ireland. Can you pinpoint a few places? Generally, they discourage visitors from climbing over the wall at the Cliffs of Moher to take the hike to Hag's Head. However, I see people doing it all the time. Since I don't have a head for heights I have not done it. I did love Loop Head though. Lovely cliffs and a nice walk around the lighthouse. At Ballybunion there is a cliff walk (very safe) and you may see dolphins there.

Thanks, Michele. I'll do some research on Loop Head.
