In less then three months I leave for Ireland and just wanted to get your opion on my itenary. I leave Austin on April 27 and land in Shannon April 28. I have rented my car through Auto Europe and I am very happy with the price and the advice I got from Michele and CowboyCraic when it came to car rental information. I am doing something new on this trip except for my first and last night there and I have no reservations. I have nothing planned either, well not the much. I am taking Michele's book and one other book with me on this trip. I have some ideas of what I want to see and do, but just not going to rush it. I figure I can ask the host where I am staying at what there is to do or see in that area. and get her suggestion on where I should stay in next palce I am going to I am wondering am I trying to do to much in the two weeks I am in Ireland? I want to make sure that I leave myself enough time in each place, but not feel to rushed about everything. Thanks again everybody for taking the time to responded.
April 28-30 Pick up car and drive to Dingle.I will be taking the ferry, thanks again CowboyCraic, so I can have a few minutes to rest and also it is seems the more scenic route. This is my only reservation the Emlagh Lodge. I was wondering is three days to long in Dingle? I was thinking about droping a day in dingle and add a day in Kenmare.
May 1-2 Drive to Kenmare I am thinking of adding an extra day here and dropping one at Dingle but not sure. I am planning on driving the Beara Peninsula and maybe Sheeps Head.
May 3-5 Drive to Kilkenny, visit Cahir on the way. Drive over to Hooks Head and visit the Cashel area on the other two days .
May 6-7 Drive to Newgrange, visit Trim Castle on the way.
May 8-9 Drive to Galway, and take a tour of the Connemara using the O'Neachtain Tour as CowboyCraic suggested.
May 10 Drive to Doolin and take the Cliffs of Moher cruise later in the day.
May 11Drive to Bunratty lodge taking the long way via Kilkee
Looking good! I like your multiple-night stays in most places. It will give you time to explore and relax. I'm glad to hear you have a good rate on your car rental.
I think I would take a day from Dingle and add it to Kenmare. You will be in Kilkenny over part of a Bank Holiday. It will be very busy and I suggest making reservations. The remainder of the holiday will be near Newgrange. Best to have reservations for those busy days too. Since it is a holiday try to get to Newgrange early.
Michele thanks again for your wonderful advice. I have just emailed the Alcantra and the Hillgrove ,CowboyCraic suggested it, to see if they have any rooms avaible on the nights I will be in Kilkenny. I was wondering do you know of a nice Bed and Breakfast that is close to Newgrange. I found one but there is not alot information on it. It is called the Roughgrange Farm B&B and i guess i will just throw caution to the wind and book a room. I will let the readers know what I thought of it when I get back.
