Where to go for great food and a pint

Ok, so now that I have the travel plans rolling along, I have to ask the all important question of, "Where should we go to get amazing food and join in some great pub atmosphere?"

We can't wait to taste the fresh seafood and authentic Irish cuisine!  We're also looking for some great pubs to just relax in and enjoy a good fire and as much Irish music as we can fit in.  No tourist traps please!  Give us the side road quaintness any day.

We will be flying in and out of Shannon and keeping to the Western and Southern part of the Island.  I know you all probably have some excellent suggestions, so bring them on!  We are keeping our travel itinerary open, so we may be swayed to head in the direction you suggest.

You really cant go wrong, but if you visit Galway we enjoyed the following:

McDonagh's ( has the finest fish and chips)
Quay's Bar
The Skeff ( or the Skeffington)
King's Head

Great Supermaket near Erye Square.( Super Valu) Bought tons of goodies there to bring home.

Cheers!

Dayna,

There are sooo many places to recommend. I'm sure once you narrow down your focus to certain towns everyone will chime in to tell you their favorites.

Dayna,

In Doolin, McGann's Pub has the best Irish stew
In Galway, McDonagh's has the best Fish & Chips, as well their fried chicken is delicious. They also have seafood but I am allergic so I can't vouch for it.
If you travel over to Inis Mor, the American Bar is not the place to eat. Try the fish place across the way or the Pier House.

Okay, I am now dealing with a grumbling stomach which I will have to attempt to appease with McCann's Oatmeal.

Slan Go Foill,

Bit

Thank you for the suggestions so far!  I will be keeping all of this information with me during our April trip.  I look forward to any other opinions you may have as well.

Drive all the way out on the Mizen Peninsula to Crookhaven. Have dinner at the Crookhaven Inn (even if the chairs are a bit uncomfortable). Then wander over to O'Sullivan's for a pint. By no means are these tourist traps.
