Thanks, Sidz. I'll turn on the Green Spot radar and have all three sisters watching for it. We won't be in Dingle, heading north this time, but maybe the luck of the Irish will be with us. Or if all else fails I can tell my husband I tried everything. He's pretty understanding.
I can't recall if you will be in the area but Dicey Rielly's in Ballyshannon might be a good place to look for Green Spot. In Galway, down in Eyre Square, ask for The Whiskey Shop and check in with them. If they don't have it, they will know where to send you. You can't miss it as it is trimmed in bright green. If memory serves, it is not too far from McDonagh's Dish & Chips. You can always ask in any of the shops, they will point you in the right direction.
Thanks, Bit, we will be going right through Ballyshannon after Belleek. Not sure if we'll be in Eyre Square when in the Galway area but I'm putting this info in my notes. This is making my poor unsuspecting husband sound like an Irish whiskey addict! All this is meant to be just a pleasant little surprise for him. It'll be a good story to tell him if I'm successful, or even if I'm not.
Addict, no certainly not just a man with good sense for finer things, which is why he has you! As a lady who loves a glass of fine whiskey herself, I am only to glad to aid you in your search! You will love Dicey's. It not only an off license but also a pub in its own right.
Making my list of things to get so here's a question. We are flying into Shannon and out of Dublin, flight going out is at 10:30 am. I've never shopped at duty free, are they open early enough for us to pick up some of the recommended whiskeys before the flight? thanks!
Green Spot is in the Dingle Pub's off license for about 41 Euros. It is just up the street from Small Bridge and next door to the Dingle Pub. Drop into the music store a bit up from that around 5:30 for an impromptu music session by a couple of local artists--although the very good bodhran player is actually from France!
