Ardsallagh Lodge, County Cork

Can anyone tell me if this is located near enough to Cork City to make it a "base" for a few days? They sound wonderful. We are looking for a very nice place to stay near enough to Cork City to do some family research, but still out of the big city.

wckc,

Welcome to the forum! Ardsallagh Lodge is just beautiful. If you stay please tell Elizabeth you heard of her B&B here. Youghal is a charming town and the drive into Cork City will take about an hour, depending of course on traffic.

If you want to be closer I would recommend Blarney, which is only a few minutes to Cork. Another option is Kinsale, which is about a 45 minute drive.

All drive times depend a lot on Cork traffic. It can be a killer at rush hours.

Thanks Michele!

I actually got antsy and went ahead and booked! We will be staying in Dublin Friday 4/20 through Sunday 4/23, leaving the morning of the 24th. I have booked at Ardsallagh for Tuesday, Wed & Thursday nights. I'm not sure where we should plan to stay Monday night.

Our flight leaves Shannon on Friday May 4th, so I have thought of staying two-three nights at Buratty Lodge.

Any suggestions you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

wckc,

Cashel would be a good overnight stay on Monday. If you have a few nights after Youghal you might consider Kenmare and a last night in Bunratty.
