are one way tickets to ireland legitimate?

I was just curious: Can I get into Ireland with a one way ticket from the USA into Dublin without hassle? I ask because a friend nearly got turned away from London, England at the airport because he only had a one way ticket. Should I worry about this?
(I am a college student, and am traveling to ireland to work on an organic farm through the wwoof program. I will not be paid for my work.)

Welcome to the forum. One way tickets are legitimate. Whether you will have trouble at immigration is another matter. Since you are working in Ireland perhaps you have a work permit or a visa?

I suggest you contact the Irish Embassy with your question. They will be able to give you the "official" info that you need. http://www.irelandemb.org/ 

Where is the organic farm? I am going to be staying on one on my next visit.
