when does new book come out?

Michele, I know you said the new book comes out in March, but I was just wondering when? I have to pay for it using cash and paypal says that the only book available at this moment is the 2006. I am leary of doing that cause I might get the wrong book. I do not leave on my vacation till the end of April so it is not that big of deal, but just wanted to make sure I would have it before i left.

Dear Michele,

I'm interested also. I may never get to Ireland again, but I like reading your accommodation descriptions and dreaming.

Matt, I just recently ordered Michele's book using PayPal and at some point in the order process I was given a chance to send a message to the seller. Just put in there that you want to wait for the 2007 book and Michele will oblige you. To be on the safe side you can also send her an e-mail to the same effect. But I'll wager that she will get the message from the forum also!
Personally, I can't wait! I believe that she recently answered someone that it will be the end of March.

Matt,

Dude is correct. I am working like crazy and my 2007 book will be out at the end of March. If you would like to have the book for pre-planning, I suggest you get the 2006 edition. The new edition is not changing greatly and you can always get any updates you need free right here on the forum.

BTW, I have just updated my website tonight.

Michele,

Thanks, I enjoyed that. It's been about 3 years since I bought your last book, so your new one will be fun. I'll wait until the end of the month. As I've told others, your recommendations are right-on. I found out when I stayed at Mal Dua and The Lodge.

Joan,

My husband always accuses me of being "too fussy". My comeback is, "I get paid to be fussy!". He has nothing to say to that. So you are right that I am very exacting when it comes to choosing lodgings. There are plenty of meidocre places but I am always looking for something superior or special. Melissa5 has dubbed me "the Goldilocks of Ireland". I get a kick out of that!

My book has changed enough in 3 years for a new one.

Michele

Hi Michele,

I am getting pretty discouraged trying to book The Bervie.  Started with e-mails last August/September, and have not heard anything.  I posted in January concerning this, and you told me they might be on vacation.  So, sent another e-mail, nothing, then tried calling last Monday, and left messages, but to no avail.  I realize I am trying to book the last two days of a Bank Holiday (May27 and 28).  Could they be waiting to fill the entire 4 day weekend?

Should I keep trying?

Helen

Helen, I had sent a couple of e-mails to The Bervie around Feb. 20 and received a reply on 3/5. John apologized for the late reply and said that they had been gone for a few days. So hang in there. I think it will be worth the patience!

Helen,

You are wondering if Bervie is wanting to fill the entire Bank Holiday weekend. The answer is, I just don't know. What I do know is that I communicate on a regular basis with friends in Ireland and on many occasions my emails never reach them and vice versa. I don't know why but it does happen.

I suggest sending more emails and in each subject line put something like "4th attempt to make reservations" or something like that. That will indicate to them that there are other emails that have gone missing.

Try a few more times with emails and phoning. Perhaps callling at different times. If you still can't get through I have another suggestion for a lovely B&B not far from the Bervie. Let me know if you want that.

I have the phone number for Bervie as 098 43114. The fax is 098 43407. Email: bervie@estatclear.ie There is a contact form on this website: http://www.ireland-guide.com/establishment/bervie.3876.html

Hi Michele and Dude,

I am encouraged by your replies!  Just tried to call again, but no answer. So I sent another e-mail, as you suggested.  Keep your fingers crossed, will let you know if and when I hear anything!

I sent a couple emails in February to the Bervie and got no response. I then called the last week in Feb and reached the son and he told me to call back later in the evening. When I called later in the evening, I still got the son so he took my reservations. I confirmed them by email and did get a couple responses back from the dad. I'm excited to be staying there in Sep. Keep trying.

Hello Michele, Dude and Earl,

Success!! I received a reply from John ( The Bervie) this morning, and booked a seaview room with a sitting area for May 27 and 28.  He couldn't account for all the delay, and thanked me for my tenacity. Thanks for all the encouragement, I am sure we shall enjoy our stay. Will let you know.  It's two months away and am already counting the days!

 Hello Merle,

Sorry for the misprint of your name.  It was a senior moment!

Helen,

Fantastic! As you see, your persistance paid off. Sometimes it is hard to get in touch with places that are very rural and out of the way. I don't know why and even the people living there don't know. I am hoping for good weather for you so you can walk the beach and then sit in front of the fire and have a cuppa.

We will look forward to your review when you return. Tell Liz and John hello from me when you are there.

Michele

Helen,
No problem with the name. Hope you enjoy the Bervie. You will be there before we are.
