If Doolin isn't an option ...

Hi -- first time poster here. I've learned a lot from reading these forums, so thanks. I've hit a potential snag in my itinerary for 8 days in late September (Doolin-Dingle-Kinsale-Ennis) and could use some help. The snag is that many of the recommended B&Bs in Doolin are already booked up (Cullinan's, O'Connor's, Atlantic View). Waiting for responses for a few more (Daly's, Sea View, etc). But if I can't find rooms in places where we'd like to stay, I suppose I'll have to rejigger the plan.

Anyone have suggestions for an alternate first night stay? We get into Shannon in the am (on a Saturday), will drive our rental car over to the Cliffs and have lunch in Doolin, probably, then ... what? Drive to Ballyvaughan even though it's north and we're driving south the next day to Dingle? Any ideas would be really appreciated.

We have a similar plan, and I booked at Kilrush, on the way down to Dingle. I booked at Hillcrest View, but also looked into Kilkee at Nolans.

I stayed at Daly's in Doolin last month and it was wonderful.  Susan Daly is a great host and her house is a short walk to O'Connor's Pub.  She should get back with you soon -- I found her to be prompt when e-mailing her.  If that place is available, grab it -- you won't be sorry about the location, the facilities, or the warm welcome she provides.biggrin

Michele recommends O'Connor's Farmhouse in Doolin. I have been coveting some time there but we won't be in Doolin this trip. Check it out at http://oconnorsdoolin.com .

Oops! Just saw that you had checked with them and they are sold out. Bummer!

Why thank you! And it's really me--I thought about using Nicole Kidman but I figured everyone on this board is smart enough to see through that!

I think a current photo should be a requirement so we can put faces with the "voices." Just kidding!

Corey?

I think that is an excellent suggestion! It always helps to know who is on the other end of the computer, at least by face. So Corey, you are in the hotseat now, my boy. Come on and join the party!

Slan agus Barrogs,

Bit

Hey, there was a video of me posted on the board a few days back...that should count for something...video AND audio.

If you really want a photo, you'll just have to visit my website...there are several pics there and on the blog.

Corey,

They do count. But we can't see you every day. Stop stalling and go get yourself a glamor shot. Dude and I are members of the silver hair club. Doesn't sliver sound so much nicer than gray? wink Mine blends right in with the Irish rocks I'm standing in front of.

Man oh man, there is so much peer pressure on this board biggrin

I decided to go with a shot of me with a wombat in Australia...might as well go with something you guys haven't seen.

I must admit, it does make a big difference seeing everyone's photos with their posts. It's like a neighborhood.

Corey and the Wombat. Sounds like a good name for a rock group.

Thank you, Corey, for minding when we bossy Older Women tell you to do something. It encourages us.

Hadn't thought of it 'til now, but my title of Senior Member does go well with my Prematurely Silver Hair. (Hee hee).aww

Hi Michele,

I decided it was time to "show my face" also, but have run into some difficulty in pasteing it.  Can you give directions on "How To"?  Even DH is having trouble.

Thanks,
Helen

WooHoo! It looks as if we wore Corey down! Yes, Corey and the Wombat does sound like one of those British Invasion Groups. So, does the wombat play drums or electric bass?

Helen, sorry to hear that you are having difficulties. It should be an easy upload from a picture file on your computer. I am afraid that I am not technically savy enough to help you out all that much.

As for lodging question which started this pose, have you checked into McGann's? They have a B&B, as well as the pub.

Slan Beo,

Bit

Judy - Not sure what you tried so far, so I just want to make sure we're on the same page. Here's how I did it:

Click on your name

Click View user profile

Click Avatar

Click Upload an Avatar

Browse your computer until you find your picture

Click Upload - it will automatically resize the photo

Click on your picture

Click Select Avatar

Is that the process you went through already?

It's like we're putting together a family portrait. Wombats and all.

Many, many thanks, Corey!  Hopefully it's working.  The smile on my face is because the photo was taken with Joe Creedon at Creedon's Hotel Pub in Inchigeelagh, County Cork!!

Perfect!

Seeing all these smiling mugs and silver hair makes me quite proud of the silver flecks making appearances on my head.

Corey & Helen,

I'm so glad to see you joined the ranks. It is wonderful to see your smiling faces on the forum. It feels like a real neighborhood where you recognize everyone. Thank you.
