Gas was around E.99-1.04 per liter when I was in Ireland in March. AA currently says it is at 1.04. The conversion rate is currently 1.35, so about $1.40. That makes the cost per gallon at 5.31.
If you are only going to Dublin, you certainly don't need a car. Prices in the far SW were cheaper than areas around the airport (Co. Clare).
Welcome to the forum. Bill is just recently back from Ireland so his info is right up to date. Walking and using public transportation while you are in Dublin is best. Get your car when you are departing Dublin for the countryside.
We also found gas normally to be in the 1.02-1.05 area when we were in Ireland last month. One thing about it, however, is you don't feel the pinch as much as you think, since chances are you are going to be driving a small car with great gas mileage, and even though it takes awhile to get places over there, the actual distances are not great -- so you don't go through a tremendous amount of fuel.
THANKS FOR EVERYONES RESPONSE. WE are taking a nine day tour then picking up a car in doublin heading to see family in donegal, then headed to leitrim to visit more family. thanks again linda
