Kilkenny Bank Holiday

Michele,
I'm rethinking my plans since lodging is proving difficult in Kilkenny on Sunday, June 3.  I realize the next day is the bank holiday.  In a town like Kilkenny, will businesses and attractions be open or will this be a bad day to visit?

Thanks.
Ande

Ande,

Things will definitely be open in Kilkenny. However, there is a festival going on as well as the Bank Holiday. The town will be full to overflowing. Had you thought of staying in Cashel instead? It is only about an hour from Kilkenny. It might suit you since Kilkenny is booked up.

Bank Holidays are a little like Memorial Day or Labor Day in the US. Lots of people have off work, but the tourist and recreation industry is in full swing.

What I'm going to do is only stay the Monday night in Kilkenny. Hopefull most people will clear out and head home that day. Michele, I was able to get a room at the Alcantra since it's just Monday now.
