Adare is a cute town with a row of thatched cottages that make for a popular photo stop. It can be very crowded with tourists during the season. You can certainly take a different route and see things like Cahir Castle and the Rock of Cashel. However, that is not the most direct route. It probably depends on whether you have seen those during the rest of your trip and also what you plan on seeing on your last full day in Ireland.
