Next month we will be based for most of our week in Ireland in Galway (without a car). Can anyone recommend among the following operators for day tours to Connemara and the Burren - Bus Eireann, Healy, Lally or O'Neachtain? Has anyone tried any of the Corrib Lough cruises from Galway or Ougtherad? We also plan a day on the Aran Islands. Thanks!
I usually recommend Lally tours, as I think they have a better touch. If you are traveling to Inis Mor, you can book your ferry and the bus ride down on Eyre square at the Aran Direct shop.
Enjoy your week in Galway. MAke sure you have lunch at McDonagh's! They have the best fish & chips! Two people can eat off of one serving, usually.
I second McDonagh's! We enjoyed a nice boat ride on Lough Corrib, then had by far the best Fish and Chips I have ever eaten! I am drooling just thinking about it. Be sure to take advantage of the "Take Away" portion of the restaurant, as it is cheaper, and you get to "rub elbows" with the locals. Quay's Bar and The King's Head are across the street, so you can wash it all down with a fresh pint if you desire.
Thank you both for your prompt and helpful replies. We will check out Lally and the F&C. We will be there the week of May 14. Is it advisable to reserve (pay) for the tours now over the Web? We don't know whether these tours fill up rapidly or not.
