Hi there, I had a quick look through the topics but didn't see this one, however, if it has already been asked - sorry! I'm having trouble finding pet friendly accommodation in West Cork. There are some cottages that accept pets, but unfortunately they are booked up for the time we want to go. Of course, we want to go at the most popular time, the bank holiday weekend in August, and we want to stay on the Beara peninsula, and I understand there happens to be a regatta on that weekend! Do you have any recommendations/ideas?
So many of us here on this board are in North America and I don't think we can take our pets into Ireland. I know a friend of mine did not make a trip because she couldn't leave her dog. Maybe things have changed.
If I recall correctly, I remember picking up a brochure in Bantry for a place that is extremely pet friendly, with kennels and runs, as well as allowing the dogs in the room. I believe the name was Carbery Cottage and it was just outside of Bantry. I know of two others. One at Portmagee,Mrs Kelly's B&B. The other near Waterville is called the old Cable Cottage, I believe.
When I googled "Pet Friendly - Beara Peninsula, this was the first site to pop up. It seems to have a page for Pet friendly accommodations.
Thanks everyone for your help! Yes, I had seen the place in Bantry, which really does look good, doesn't it? I'm afraid I'm being really fussy, and want to be right in Castletownbere, or just outside it. Bantry is about 45 minutes away, which might make it difficult for going out at night in Castletownbere. I'll certainly keep trying, and now I know where to ask if I have any other travel queries!
Castletownbere is a small town. You might have difficulties in finding something. The closest would be Carbery Cottage just south of Bantry tha I know fo rsure allows pets.
I wish I could be of more help but you have given me a tall bill to fill.
