Timing for Slea Head from Dingle Town?

What would be a reasonable amount of time to travel out to Slea Head from Dingle Town and back, including a stop at the Gallorus Oratory?

We took that drive and stopped a lot to take in the beauty as well as Gallorus, the Fort, the Riaisc Monastic site and the visitor's center. We spent a lot of time looking at the water and filming the waves, taking an up close look at some sea gulls, and just being tourists.

We only spent about 4 or 5 hours out there that day, and enjoyed every bit!

Mark,

That is a loaded question. Just doing the drive and stopping at Gallarus Oratory might take a couple of hours. However, there is much to see and do along the way. You could easily take the entire day if you visit such sites as Dunbeg Fort, the beehive huts, Louis Mulcahy Pottery, the various beaches and overlooks, the Blasket Island Center, Gallarus, Kilmalkedar, etc. It all depends on your interests and probably the weather. The better the weather the more photo stops you will make. Do you have an entire day to devote to it or only a few hours?

We have the morning only. We need to depart Dingle by 1:00 and probably should get lunch in there as well... so maybe 8:30 to 12:30 max?

Good question and thanks for the answers as I was wondering the same.

For us, we'll be out there on the day of the "YES Get Together" and I wanted to make sure I'm at Murphy's on time!! Looks like we'll have plenty of time to enjoy the drive and get back with time to spare.

Thanks again,

Chris

Mark,

You will most likely have to skip a few things like the Blasket Island Center, which can eat up an hour or two in itself. You might want to pack a picnic lunch. That way you can sit and enjoy the beautiful scenery and not waste a minute on the Dingle Peninsula.
