mosquitoes in Ireland?

I was wondering if there are mosquitoes in Ireland?  Mosquitoes love me and I want to be prepared if there are.  It may be a silly question, BUT the only stupid question is the one you don't ask! So I had to ask!

Thanks

Jessica,

No misquitoes. However, they have midges. They are small gnat size flying insects that bite. They tend to hang around thick vegetation and still water in lower areas. You may not encounter them at all but if you are worried you can pick up repellent at chemists shops (drugstores) or supermarkets in Ireland. Or pack a small can in your luggage.
