multi family multigenerational trip

Hi,
I am new to this forum. I am planning a trip to Ireland in either June or August of 2008. I told my sister we were going (myself a 50 something woman, husband, boys age 20, 18, 13) and told her to come if she wanted. Next thing I know I have another sister with husband and 2 grown children and my mother in law coming. Actually I asked MIL first. They have convinced me not to try and see it all. I must see Lismore, Waterford and visit the cemetery where my grgrgrandparents are buried and have a meal in a pub there - my great great grandfather ws a publican there. one sister wants to see Ring of Kerry and the cliffs of Moher. Lastly I promised my MIL to take her to see Donegal, not the Donegal of tours but up towards Malin. Any suggestions on how to do this in about 8 days?  To be honest, MIL is most important! At 79 she comes first. Thanks for any ideas.confused Kate

Kate,

Welcome to my forum! You have quite a family group going to Ireland. If you have a choice of June or August you might want to choose early June. August is quite a bit more crowded with tourists.

With only 8 days you will have to plan your itinerary carefully. Since Donegal takes priority, put that at the top of your "must see" list. Waterford/Lismore might be second. You will have to determine which airport you will fly into and out of to begin the planning process. Also, look into hiring a chauffeur-driven small bus as when 10 people are sharing, the costs can be divided and might be comparable with hiring a couple of vans yourself. I have done custom itineraries for quite a few family groups who have hired a chauffeur-driven bus and have an excellent company to recommend if you like.

We will be delighted to help with suggestions as your planning proceeds. Do take a look at the following pages of my website for some tips on getting started:
