Welcome back from an entire summer in Ireland. Do you have a brogue yet? I know you don't have a suntan. I thoroughly enjoyed your blog and fantastic photos.
For those forum members who have not yet visited Corey's site: www.irishfireside.com You can listen to the podcasts, read the blog and enjoy the photos.
Thanks for the welcome home. We're actually at Shannon right now and fortunately 're traveling with an Aer Lingus Gold Circle Member, so I'm in the private lounge enjoying some snacks and light refreshments. A very good way to end the summer.
The whole summer has been documented in photos and words on our website, so go ahead and take a peek. We've also got a lot of material for new podcasts, so we'll be busy in the upcoming months.
BTW - It's still raining between scattered sun spells. Not a great summer as far as weather goes. Now, I have to prepare for heat and humidity back home.
What great photos!! I especially like the ones of Athassel Priory in Tipperary. We were there in May, and had glorious weather. But your pictures of the threatening, dark clouds made me wish I had been there at that time, too. I spent about an hour there, wandering and thinking of past lives lived there. That's the wonderment of Ireland--one's imagination runs wild!!
Wonderful information and photos -- as always! Just wondering, what is your vocation and background professionally, and how long have you been doing your Web site and travelling to Ireland?
Sidz - I'm a freelance writer and graphic designer with several years experience in the museum and education arenas. My first trip to Ireland was about 12 years ago and I've been going back ever since. Meanwhile, www.IrishFireside.com was born in February 2006. Glad you're enjoying the site!
Michele - It was tough to decide which photos to even put online. For every posted photo I post, there are at least a dozen more that don't make it to the public albums.
I was thinking of entering a few of the images in the Ireland tourism photo contest at http://goireland.com/photo/. I know a lot of board members have taken some great photos, so they should consider it as well.
So far, no jet lag...but I'm still not entirely unpacked yet.
I know the problem of culling the photos. I have tens of thousands and recently indexed all my best digital ones. I want to put a photo slide show on my website. First my husband has the assignment of finding the right software to do the job.
You definitely have award-winning photos! Just read the fine print of the contests because some of them will take ownership of any photos entered. But it depends on if that is important to you. The one of the tree with red leaves and blue sky background is super. Also the dramatic sky at Athassel.
Glad the jet lag is at bay. It is different with each trip.
