Traveling w/ teens and B&B's?

Hello
We are considering a first trip to Ireland, and I'm wondering about teens in a B&B?  Many B&B's do not allow 'children'.  Is it different in Ireland?
Also, is it possible to combine a stay @ a castle with B&B stays?
Lastly, should we be considering a guided tour vs a self guided tour as first timers?

Welcome to the forum! There is no problem with staying at Irish B&Bs with teens. Sometimes B&Bs prefer not to have small children, but they usually have the info on their website or may mention it if you email. Generally, discounts are given to children under 12 who share a room with parents. You may want to look into booking a separate room for your teens.

It is definitely possible to combine B&Bs with a castle stay. This is especially true if you are booking the trip yourself and not using vouchers.

We have not done a trip as a family like this ever, so it could be interesting!?
If I can pin down anything more specific than 'Northern Ireland' in my genealogy (where I've become totally stuck), we may head that direction to see where some of my families roots were?

Bit has gotten you started with your genealogy. The more you can do ahead of time the better. An advantage of doing a self-drive tour of Ireland is that you can go where you want, when you want and you can make your own schedule. You are not tied down to a pre-determined tour. It is easy enough to plan. Stick around here and we will all be glad to help you.
