Hi, Enjoyed your trip report. You mention Frawley's pub (and the old guy) in Lahinch. My ? is will it be open during the afternoon perhaps on a Sunday in early june. I'm looking to perhaps drive thru Lahinch on to the Cliffs. thanks for any info. -gary
He's a real treat. Is in his 90s now and has worked there since he was 8 years old. Someone I know was just through there a few weeks ago, and Tommy Frawley was still pouring the best pint in Ireland from his tiny pub. which is open 363 days per year from 10:30 a.m. until 1 a.m. Unbelievable one-man business. Mr. Frawley is sharp as a tack, always dressed like the Irish gentleman he is, loves to talk, and alot of fun -- try to go through there if you can. When we were there one night, some of the town's elderly ladies were bringing him in some food to eat for supper, and the local police came through to check on him once or twice. He's a local treasure there.
Here is a picture of him in front of his place so you know what you are looking for. It's easy to drive right past it if you don't know where you are going.
Mr. Frawley describes himself as "the most eligible bachelor in Ireland," and goes to a legal pad to record the purchases by saying "let me get this in my computer..."
