Ireland Wedding

Hello!  I would like to ask for your suggestion on where to hold my wedding (blessing ceremony)?  I have never been to Ireland.  I am thinking about September, 2008.  I am in Canada and would like to bring some friends and family members.  At this point, the number of people would depend on the price (budget is a big concern!).  I believe it would be something like 14 to 25 people.  My ideal venue would be a 11th century stone castle or castle-type manor home.  I would like to have some cliffs nearby for awesome pictures as well.  I would need somewhere that can host an intimate wedding and reception (nothing too formal) and accomodate everyone for the night for a very reasonable price. ashamed Thanks!!!
P.S.
I am also trying to plan the rest of the trip for everyone, and any additional suggestions would be appreciated!    smile

Ireland Wedding,

Welcome to my forum! Congratulations on your upcoming wedding. Have you looked at my Castle Hotel page yet? It lists castle hotels and castles for rent in Ireland. You can check on them to see cost and location. Most castles are very expensive. As for a reasonable price, what do you have in mind?

Michele

Your timing is excellent as laws were only passed here last month to allow marriages outside a Church or Registry Office.

However, please check with this site..

as there are legal requirements.

Blessings

Hi Michele,
After much figurin', conjecturing, and debate with my fiance, I came up with some numbers for our imaginary budget, which may demonstrate we have NO IDEA what we're doing.confused  Anyway, I had checked out the Castle Hotel page and a couple other sites.  To give you an idea what we're thinking, the places I came up with that seemed to be in our budget were:  SPRINGFIELD CASTLE, CLOGHAN CASTLE, BALLYHANNAN CASTLE, BALLYNAGOWAN, BELLE ISLE CASTLE, KILLAGHY CASTLE, LISHEEN CASTLE.  The idea is to book a tour of Ireland - I think one of the self driving B&B tours is the most affordable with one/two nights in the castle for the wedding & reception.  I would like to keep the cost for accomodation on the wedding night below $250 CAD/night/room and the wedding venue rental below $1500 CAD (with wedding costs, dinner & entertainment under $3000 CAD).  We were even considering having the wedding & reception at the castle/manor home and then carrying on to the local pub for merrymaking afterward.  Sounds like more fun if there was an appropriate place for such a thing.  So, once again - your suggestions are appreciated!
Cheers aww.gif

Ireland Wedding,

Since you have whittled the list down, I suggest you contact each place to find out exact pricing and to see if they are available for your dates. One of the castles you have chosen is in No. Ireland so be sure to do your exchange rates into Canadian dollars to see what suits you best.

Ireland Wedding,

I assume you have looked at all the regulations about getting married in Ireland? If not, that is the very first thing to do. There are strict residency and other requirements: http://www.groireland.ie/getting_married.htm

Ireland is not Las Vegas.
