Tickets booked --- where to go?

I posted some while ago and received a lot of good advice. Looking for some more suggestions from all. We (two couples) arrive at Shannon Airport on the 1st July at 3.30pm. We have 10 nights in Ireland and leave from Knock on the 11th July at 11.30am.
Our only requirements are that we want to head north from Shannon (not south) and that we do not wish to stay in any one B&B for less than 2 nights. Can you suggest which places (towns or villages, not establishments) we should stay at? Given our two night minimum this means we would be looking for possibly 4 stopover bases from which to explore the surrounding areas. We do want to get right up to Donegal (before returning to Knock). All suggestions on suitable stopovers welcome and many thanks for your interest.

Rory

Rory, you might look at the Trip Reports area for "Jones Girls Invade Ireland" and see where my sisters and I went and what we did. I still have hopes for a holiday exclusively in Co. Donegal.

Rory,

Depending on what you plan on seeing some good stopovers are Galway, Westport, Sligo, Donegal. Are you going to Northern Ireland too?
