A Night Between Galway and Dublin Airport

Hello Michele,
We are pretty much prepared for our 24 day trip in May to Ireland, 4th trip. I have booked accommodation in Swords for our last night. We will be driving from Kinvara and have a night to spend en route. Tried to book Glasson Stone Lodge or Benown House but neither is available. Do you have any recommendations in the Midlands? I've spent time in Birr and it is a favorite place but we would like to try somewhere else. We do like to be in village/town settings (or at least near a pub!). Thank you.

Stewart,

How about Portlaoise? Some things to do in the area are Rock of Dunamase, Heywood Gardens and Emo Court. Ivyleigh is a very nice guesthouse there: http://www.ivyleigh.com/

I hope we will be reading your trip report later this year?

Stewart,

You're welcome. Do you think Portlaoise might work for you?

Michele,
I looked at the Ivyleigh...what a great spot. The cost is more than we are expecting to spend. We are looking for a B&B or guesthouse for about 40 Euros pps. Too bad the places in Glasson are booked. I am looking at places from around Athlone to as far as Trim. We may just wing it or even spend another night in Kinvara and drive to Swords the next day. Thanks again for all your help.

Stewart,

I can understand being on a budget. I hope you find the solution. The only place I have to recommend in Trim is Trim Castle Hotel and that is probably not in the ballpark either.
