passports

Since this will be our first trip out of USA since the new passport laws, are you required to have your passport on YOUR PERSON at all times while in Ireland or can they be at the B & B, luggage, etc.

I certainly had mine on me at all times. Had it in a zipped pocket so I wouldn't lose it. I guess if you left it in a B&B while you were walking around town that wouldn't be a real issue, but why would you not want to have it with you?

noshot9,

It is not a requirement that you keep your passport with you at all times. Although, if you need to do banking (cashing traveler's checks) or purchse something and want your VAT back you will need your passport to show you are a tourist and not local.

The way the EURO is going, there will probably be very little purchasing going on, therefore, little use of the passport.  Speaking of VAT, I remember reading on the forum about two different color VAT forms that are used.  I can't remember what the colors were but which color is the best one to use?

Certainly agree on the Euro's hold on the exchange rate -- who can afford to come back with plenty of souvenirs anymore?  Also somewhat disappointing with the present economic issues is that the Open Sky agreement so far has done little if nothing to drop the cost of flights. Maybe after the travel season this summer some rates will drop.

Enjoy your trip, even if you are on a tight leash when it comes to spending! wink.gif

noshot9,

Global Refund with the blue and white form is the best one.
