Shannon breakfast

Is there a place near the Shannon airport (or the Shannon area for that matter)forum members would recommend for breakfast after the flight over?

I would swear I remember Michele and several others discussing a wonderful nearby restaurant but have had no luck with searches finding the thread.

Mark,

I think the restaurant we may have been discussing was the Red Door in Bunratty. It is wonderful but they don't serve breakfast.

What is your arrival time? Most places would start at 7 or 8. However, the Estuary Cafe at Shannon Airport opens at 5 am.

Michele,

Red Door sounds right, surprised I didn't find the thread!?!?

Our flight arrives at 6:AM and I'm assuming that getting bags, through customs and picking up the car will take an hour or 2 so we're looking at 8 or so to eat and start the day.  We are still kicking around whether to do Bunratty park that morning, to see it early, or head towards the Cliffs first thing and will probably let the weather be our guide.  That leaves us the ability to eat in Shannon proper, possibly Ennis if we head that way or even towards Bunratty, the reason for the question was remembering the thread about "some" great place and we wanted to try it if possible.  We are just looking for something in the area around 8 or so.

Mark,

I doubt if it will even take an hour to get the car and luggage. It is usually pretty quick in Shannon. At that early hour your best option will be hotels since they open early. Near Shannon is the Park Hotel, Oakwood Arms, Bunratty Castle Hotel, Bunratty Shannon Shamrock. Bunratty Castle opens at 9 am during the season.

In Ennis try Cibo opposite the friary in Ennis. Also Temple Gate Hotel and Old Ground Hotel.

Mark, depending on how hungry you are, the Hotel at the airport has a WONDERFUL breakfast -- if they serve folks that do not stay at the Hotel, I am not sure. When we were in Ireland, we spent our last night at the Hotel because we wanted to be sure and make connections at the airport due to a very early flight out. Try it out, you will be surprised of all the choices you get......and the food was really good. youngka I'm sorry I don't know the name of the Hotel --- does anyone else?

Many thanks to both Youngka and Michele!!

I will take the list you've provided Michele and wait to see if someone might know the hotel Youngka is referencing.

6 days and counting.......

Maybe it was because I was on a plane for so long, but the Estuary Cafe at the airport was pretty darn good. It had lots of options Everything was nice and fresh.
It was my first taste of Ireland so to speak. If you are starving once you go through customs, I would not think twice about grabbing something from the cafe to hold you over until you could sit down to a nice meal.
