Buying a hairdryer in Ireland

Will I be able to buy a hairdryer in one of the larger grocery stores?
We will be near Carrick and there is a Tesco in town.
If not there can anyone point me in the right direction. If I remember correctly the pharmacy  isn't like our CVS.

Thanks
Susan

Susan,

Try Dunnes stores or Boots.

Hi Susan.

Carrick has a large 24 hr Tesco with a good range of  inexpensive electrical stuff, including hairdriers; by far the cheapest around and reliable.

All our kitchen appliances are Tesco; kettle, toaster, microwave. And all are well used and working fine three years on.

Not been in Boots there.... and there is no Dunne;s nearer than Sligo. Both will cost a lot more than Tesco.

The other local alternative is Moffat and King which all the natives used before Tesco arrived. Head out of the town on the Boyle/Sligo road and it is well signed around a half mile out on the left.  Probably as cheap as Tesco.

LIDL have a varying selection of household goods; you never know what they will have next.
Makes food shopping interesting; always cheap and always good quality.

Blessings

Thank you Anchoress for the information on the stores in Carrick.
One of my favorite things to do in another country is to visit the local grocery stores to see the diffrent products.
My husband and I where just talking about how much we enjoyed Carrick on our last visit, and are looking forward to tea and scones at Coffeys pastry case (across from the river).

You are very welcome, Susan. Carrick was our shopping town for many years so we know it well.

There are two "pound shops" also, but they have become rather expensive for electrical goods.

Tesco is fairly new there, as is LIDL. Before that there was only Super Valu, a more expensive grocery store.

There is an excellent coffee shop in the small market square also. Really good coffee which I know is appreciated there, and home made scones etc. You can sit outside etc.

Enjoy...

Blessings....
