Prices for travel in the Fall

I realize that we are in unchartered waters these days with fuel prices, but with that being said, I wondered if anyone had any guesses about what airlines prices -- especially Aer Lingus -- might do later this year for travel to Ireland in either October or November.  Normally I would have booked by now, but what the heck, there are no deals to be found, so I'm simply holding off on our trip hoping that tourism numbers will be so far down that they will offer some incentive to fly.  That's my plan at least, to wait.  I see no real plus in booking now.  Heck, if prices to fly get much worse, I probably won't be going anyway!  smile

With travel numbers to Ireland down by almost 25 percent right now, I would suspect Oct.-Nov. tourism will be way down.  Anyone else out there with the same ploy for a flight late this year after the peak travel season is complete?

We shall see...

Sid

Hey Sidz,

I just keeping checking the rates daily using air-gorilla.com. I have found some fairly good deals using them. I am waiting for my tax-stimulus check to come in before I book mine. I am not sure that is what Bush had in mind but the economy I am gonna stimulate i semerald green! biggrin

They have been offering killer deals on summer flights through aer lingus. I am sure there will be more deals to come.

Happy hunting!

Slan Beo,

Bit

Sidz,

I would wait and see what offerings are for the off-season as the year progresses. So far this year Americans are scarce and they may start some incentives. Although the Irish are visiting the US in droves for shopping trips. Besides Bit's advice, sign up for airline newsletters to be notified of their current sales.

Makes me feel good that you agree -- things are so high right now I see no reason to book for October yet. Some of the others going are getting anxious, but my advice is just to wait and see if things go down once the busy travel season is done. There are no deals now for the off months, so what is the difference when it comes to showing patience? wink

We will get there somehow.

Sidz,

You have the right attitude. Americans are scarce this year in Ireland. I wouldn't be surprised it some deals are in the offing later this year. Hang in there.

Gary,

There were quite a few tourists around Bunratty Castle and Folk Park during the day. I would assume that reservations would contact you if the Ceili is not operating.

Have a great trip! The weather was great the last few weeks of my trip.

I too am traveling to Ireland this Fall. I wanted to hold off on purchasing the tickets, but my parents got worried about prices increasing. So, I bought the tickets. I went through Expedia and can cancel them if needed. If the prices drop drastically I'll have the option of changing them. I don't travel much, and a girlfriend did that through Expedia.

Good luck.
