I have the $49 Mobal phone and find it very easy to use. It comes with complete instructions and an easy user guide. The company has your credit card number on file and just charges you when you use the phone. The website gives all the information that you need about prices of incoming and outgoing calls. I have used the phone successfully in Italy, Belgium and the Netherlands. The phone service is based in the UK, so my phone number is a UK phone number. So far, all my calls have been outgoing to the USA to keep in touch at home.
However, I have used a phone from www.rentaphone-ireland.com during my 4 trips to Ireland. It costs me more money but I have a lot of back and forth calls with the Irish "cousins" while I am in Ireland and with this phone the calls are local calls because the company is based in Ireland. If I used the Mobal phone while in Ireland, the "cousins" would be making an international call to reach me and I do not want them to have to pay for that.
I know that there are many different ways to use a phone while traveling --calling cards, SIM cards, etc but, so far, this works for me.
I hope that this information is helpful. Good luck!
Welcome to my forum! Thanks very much for the feedback on the $49 Mobal phone. As you have said, there is no one phone that will be good for every person. It depends on circumstances and what you want to use the phone for.
The info is very helpful indeed. Please feel free to share your other experiences if you like.
