Scotland Forum

Hello all:

I was talking to a friend about this wonderful forum and how much it helped me with my trip to Ireland last May.  She is interested in Scotland and wondered if there is a comparable forum.  I know I have seen posts here about forums on Scotland, but it's been a while.
Thanks in advance.  I KNOW there isn't a comparable one -  that would be next to impossible.  wink.gif

Marie,

She could try virtualtourist.com. They have a forum area for Scotland and the people are very helpful. She couuld also try fodors.com, as they have a Scotland area, as well.

Marie,

As well as those Bit mentioned there are forums on Trip Advisor and Frommers. You may have to look at the UK ones as well to find what you want.

Thanks, Michele and Bit.

I look forward to the day I start asking more questions for another trip to Ireland.

I am planning a trip to Scotland this September, and have found several useful sites. Visit Scotland is the Scottish Tourist board site, lots of information, but no question and answer forum. The Lonely Planet site has forums for every country on the planet, but it's usually only other people who have travelled there that answer so you don't always get a good respons. Rick Steves site also has a forum. For trip planning I found the best site is Undiscovered Scotland, it has maps of every area that show all the sights in an area, big or small, that you might want to visit. I have yet to locate a person who will do individual itineraries, or give detailed advice, like Michele does here.

Been meaning to mention, for those interested in Scotland, and a personalized driving itinerary, I found a web site www.secret-scotland.com where you just send your list of places to see, and they make up your itinerary for you. Similar to what Michelle does. After many hours of trying to figure it out myself, and pulling my hair out due to all the contradictory advice I was getting, I broke down and paid for a ten day driving itinerary. I'm still trying to book B&Bs, and I leave in five days, but at least I know where I'm going now. Scotland does not appear to have the rail system that Ireland has. I'm a little nervous about my first experience driving on the other side of the road, but it should be a good adventure.

Anita,

Thanks for sharing the website you found. I hope your trip to Scotland works out well. I have been there many times and it is a beautiful, majestic country. I especially liked the Highlands and Isle of Skye.

Have a wonderful trip to Scotland. If you are on the tip of the Mull of Kyntire you can wave to Northern Ireland.
