Ireland in the snow

Well, we are having a long, hard winter here this year.

Snow and ice.

And such beauty....utter glory

I just put some photo threads up on my weblog, and there is one photo two days ago here also.

Enjoy, as we are doing here.

Anchoress,

Glad to hear you are enjoying the snow despite the cold. Dublin airport is not happy about it though. Some of my Irish friends have headed for Florida and California.

Thanks for sharing.

Wednesday here, and still bitter cold and snow lying.

We were out on Mionday finally; the main roads are clear, but they had not treated the lanes and the mountain roads were a nightmare. Inches thick ice that had started to thaw and then frozen.

Then freezing fog all the way to Strabane.

We came the longer way back to avoid the big hills; folk could not believe we had managed to use that road.

Came to a blocked part even then; but a crew with a lorry load of sand were starting at last to deal with it so they helped some.

We are not of course used to this; so all comes to a standstill.

No end in sight yet either; frost, fog. ice, sleet, snow...

Ah well!!

From the number of snowmen around, the kids have had a wonderful time..

Blessings this day

Hello Anchoress, as you went home from Strabane, with all the snow, I'll bet it was beautiful but also a little scary. Where, from Strabane, is the town where you live? We will be staying near Letterkenny for a week in a self catering cottage. Hope to see you in May.....youngka

I left a message on the whiteboard, but it is easier to email me
at anchoresscj at yahoo dot com as I do not get here every day.

We are very near Donegal Town, less than an hour from Letterkenny. On a good road with magnificent scenery.

May will soon be here; please God with some good weather.

Blessings this day
