I would love to do this genealogical research trip, independently. My ancestors are from County Donagall. I've been researching for 20+ years and am even a member of our family genealogical society. We've hit a wall in Ireland. It's time for a trip to the mother land. Any advice on travel, BB's, genealogical societies, etc. is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jackie
Welcome to my forum. Bit (Cowboy Craic) is the resident genealogical expert here. I'm sure she will chime in soon on your request. Do go to my Links page for links to some genealogy websites. Try to do as much advance preparation as possible with names of people and towns.
I have many B&Bs listed on my "Lodgings" page and if you go to "Getting Started" it will start you out on the right foot. Be sure to call Tourism Ireland for lots of free info.
How long do you plan to be in Ireland? Do you have a certain month in mind?
We are all here to help guide you along. Feel free to post any questions you have and we will be delighted to give our input.
Just how big is that wall that you have hit in Ireland? Do you have an idea of the county where your family originates? Each of Ireland's county has their own Genealogical centre. The churches are also excellent resources.
I can better assist you, if I know what county or counties I must focus.
