Hi All:

I know it's been a while, but I'm still out here. I had an interesting trip to Ireland last September which involved a lot of music and a lot of fun. Work has been incredibly busy and getting busier. That hasn't kept me from making music. After two years of searching, I've found the right people for my Celtic band. We met last November for the 1st time and after three quick rehearsals went in to cut a demo. We ended up landing a week full of St. Patrick Day gigs and have slowly started working on building a fan base. Here is a link to what we sounded like back in January:

I hope to start spending a lot more time here chatting with old friends. It'll be good to chat again!

Glad to see that you are still around, still making music and still visiting 'Home'.

Michele is there, as we speak -- as is Bit and Karen (younka).  My wife and I are off on 12 June through 28.  Going to rent a house in Millstreet for two weeks and turn 'squatter'

Am hoping to get some SERIOUS research done, this year,but also hope to re-visit Coomenatrush, Knocknakilla and a few other places.

Did you give up on the usual May trips?  How did you find September -- better, or worse?

We have a myspace page for the band and will build a regular website soon at indigentrow.com. The band name is indigent row. The myspacepage with sound samples at www.myspace.com/indigentrow

I trying different times to travel. Chose last September because it was my 50th b-day. I've been in various parts of the month Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr, May, Jun, Sept, Oct, Nov and Dec. Wow, 1st time I've taken that inventory. Didn't realize how well spread out it was.

I have all sorts of notes lying all over the place from the various trips in the last couple of years. Not sure when I'll get one or any completed. It's always on my mind though.

Bill,

I will take a look at the My Space page when I have longer on the Internet. Did you do any self-catering on your last trip? Or was it all B&Bs? Any gems to recommend? Once you start counting up the trips they multiply like rabbits. The same happened to me.

I didn't do any self catering on the last trip. I spent a lot of time seaking out music opportunities. I did a lot of playing and had a great time with it. Played in almost every town I stayed in.

There you are! I'm two weeks out from my next Ireland adventure and your posts (and trips reports) in the past have always been so helpful. I will check on the MySpace link as well. This trip (my third) is also to celebrate the Big Five "O". Hey, maybe next year we'll celebrate Five "1". Any excuse will do won't it? Glad to see you around Bill.

We first went to Ireland about six months in advance of my wife's '5-0', after years of talking about doing so -- SOME DAY....yawn yawn yawn

We figured that she would enjoy Ireland, as both her paternal Grandparents were born and raised there.  I expected to find it pleasant, and interesting.

This June will mark ten years and three months since THAT trip -- and our ELEVENTH, overall.  biggrin

I'm now trying to convincer her to let me buy a place there.

Who knew indeed! Ireland is like that. It grabs hold and won't let go. There are currently some good bargains on houses. What fun to be looking for one in Ireland.

Youare absolutely correct.  There are currently some TREMENDOUS bargains (relative to the prices being demanded since 2001, when I first started paying attention, but ...

I'm just a working stiff, getting close to retirement.  aww   A 'HOUSE' might be a BIT Generous a description of what my BUDGET came reasonably expect to acquire. hmm hmm hmm hmm

I'm thinking along the lines of a DIY Project, or, preferably, a 'in need of refurbishment'.  biggrin  biggrin

Having JUST finished 15 years of doing such to OUR Florida house, the Mrs. is somewhat, ah, RESISTANT ... confuse confuse

Bob,

Just check into "planning permission" before purchasing anything. If there is a building on the property (even a garden shed) you can probably expand or build on. But planning permission is a biggie in Ireland.
