Hello there, We will be flying to Kerry and then going to a B&B in Sneem and then to the Skelligs and perhaps another town ( this is another post). I do not want to rent a car. The question is : is this possible? or should we bite the bullet and rent one. I do not want to be stressed out driving.
Welcome to my forum. The places you are going are off the beaten path. The best and quickest way to get to them is to rent a car. Otherwise I suggest you look at Ireland's bus system Bus Eireann.
So to answer your question: It is possible to get around Ireland by bus. Is it the best way? Probably not considering where you are going.
Michele, Thank you for your fast reply. Any tips on renting a car. I have heard that it can be difficult... We will then pick it up in Kerry and returning it to the same airport.. Best, Siegfried
You are flying into a rural part of the country. It should be relatively easy to get aclimated to driving on the left. I have a web page about renting a car and driving in Ireland: http://www.irelandyes.com/cars.html It will give you all the tips you need. And if you find you have any other questions, just ask.
Are you flying into Kerry Airport after a transatlantic flight?
Hell again, We will be in Germany and then taking a Ryan air to Dublin and from Dublin to Kerry ( I have not booked that leg yet) if you think that another airport is better. We are starting in Sneem. I have another question about places to stay should I start another post? Best, SIegfried
You will not have to deal with jet-lag on arrival in Ireland then. Yes, do post a new subject for your accommodation questions. And don't forget to look at my Lodgings page too.
